R. Lindsay Volkening
July 6, 1938 - January 20, 2020
R. Lindsay Volkening of Rose Valley, PA, passed away peacefully in his home on January 20,
2020 at the age of 81. Born in Summit, NJ, Lindsay spent much of his life in Philadelphia and
the past 27 years in Rose Valley. He was the beloved husband of Linda B. Volkening, whom he
married in 1984.
Lindsay enjoyed a successful career as the owner of Architecture & Design Alliance, which he
established in 1976. Always involved in his surrounding community, Lindsay was a member of
the Rose Valley Folk, the Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia, and Pocono Lake Preserve. He
was also an early supporter of MANNA, providing them with their first meeting space.
Lindsay enjoyed sailing, walking his dog in the Saul Wildlife Sanctuary, sharing stories of his
youth, and watching the sunset from his dock at Pocono Lake Preserve. Lindsay loved time with
his family most, especially during summers in the Poconos and on his boat, “Evening Star.”
Known for his sarcastic wit, expertise, and charm, Lindsay enjoyed offering advice and providing
mentor ship.

Lindsay Volkening is survived by his daughters, Laura Volkening (Charles Green) of Rose
Valley, PA, and Mia Stollen (Doug Stollen), of Millington, NJ. He is also survived by his two
grandsons, Walter Lindsay Stollen and Otto Patrick Stollen, of Millington, NJ, and his sister,
Josephine White, of Carmel, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Volkening

Services:  Friends and family are invited to Lindsay's  memorial service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020
at the Wallingford Presbyterian Church (110 E Brookhaven Rd, Wallingford, PA 19086). A short
reception will follow the service at the church.
