Richard Gallego Obituary
Gallego, "Rick", 58, born in Laredo, Texas on October 22, 1955 entered into eternal rest on October 13, 2014. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Gallego, Kr., and survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Laura, son Robert (Leslie), daughter Corinne (Oziel), son Paul, and granddaughter Isabella. He is also survived by his mother Consuelo, sister Liz, brother Paul (MarkHelen) and sister Lorraine (Bruce), along with numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nephews and nieces. Rick was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Family and friends will be welcomed for visitation on Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 pm and a memorial service on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 10:00 am at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Working at HMC I only know names of attonreys no faces, however I had the honor to meet Mr. Gallegos a few years back at a xmas party, I was able to put the name with the face which Mr. Gallegos always had a smile on his face….there are no words to express my deepess condolences to Mr. Gallegos family… I can say he was a proud grandfather when his granddaughter was born – I would ask about his granddughter & his whole face would light up with a smile & just like typical granddad he would come out with pictures of her …. Robert – I am truly sorry for the loss of your dad he was a good man & I know that every time I see you it will be hard for me not to ask for your dad – take care & good bless you and your family during this difficult time ….

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Rick's passing. I am a former prosecutor and worked with Rick for many years at the courthouse. He was a great attorney and a true gentlemen. He always talked about his wife and kids and we shared stories about our families. I am so very sorry for your loss and I will truly miss him.

I am in shock and disbelief that this great person was taken from us too soon. I will miss seeing Richard at the courthouse everyday; especially on Monday mornings when we would recap the Texans, Cowboys, Aggies, Longhorns and Cougars football games from the weekend before. He was humble, fun-loving, easy-going man, lawyer and friend. He was always so proud of his children and would constantly ask me about my son and ask to see pictures of how much he has grown. We will miss you my friend.

My condolences to the Gallego Family. I met Richard 26 years ago in our first year of law school; since then, I always thought of him as a friend. Wherever I saw him at the courthouse, he always had a smile and a moment to chat. He was so proud of all his children and was especially honored that his son followed in his footsteps to become a lawyer.
They say “men make plans and God laughs.” The last time I saw Richard, he was telling me of his plans for the future; about slowing down and taking more time to enjoy life. I know that Richard always enjoyed a good laugh but I'm sure he's in heaven right now asking God “so how is this funny?”

I met attorney Richard Gallego while a student in Law school. Among other friends Richard was in the same section during our first year. a very intelligent student as well as a good lawyer that he later became. We maintained our communicaton that developed into a friend ship well after laws school. Needless to say we had a working relationship in the courts. Richard was just one phone call away once needed. A very reliable Attorney. It has come as a sudden and shocking surprise to hear of his passing. I must say that in my 26 years of knowing Richard, I never saw this gentleman upset . He always had a very positive attitude about life. With a smile, he always brought one out of me. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed . May he rest in peace . I met Richard in law school. He loved the practice of law. You knew this by the way he talked, walked and entered the court room. He was enormously proud of his children. He would always graciously asked about my kids. I will miss his friendship and energy but I know his Spirit lives on in his children.
