NOWAK, RICHARD J.- Of Davison, age 75, a proud veteran and lifelong social butterfly, passed away on October 22, 2025, at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital.

Funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Deacon Ron Kenney officiating.

Burial in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery.

Born in Flint on July 9, 1950, to Edward and Josephine (Wolak) Nowak, he was the third of seven children. He often called his parents, humorously announcing, “This is number 3 here…”

Rich graduated from Hamady High School in 1969 and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. On May 2, 1975, he married Myra Lona (Harrell), and earlier this year, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Rich worked at GM Truck and Bus for 30 years in various roles, forming many lasting friendships along the way.

Rich had a passion for life and an extensive list of hobbies, including mud bogging, trail riding, working on cars, deer hunting, salmon fishing, playing cards, bowling, and cheering on Michigan sports teams. He was an active member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, where he faithfully worked Bingo every Wednesday—like a religion—and most recently served as their Treasurer.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Josephine, and his sister Joyce. He is survived by his beloved wife, Myra; their children, Tanya of Hilliard, Ohio and Dan of Davison; and his siblings: Eddie (Kathy) Nowak of Petoskey, Ken (Diane) Nowak of Gaines, Vickie Dumont of Clio, Jeanie (Steve) Babbit of Grayling, and Joanne (Dave) Beland of Warner Robins, Georgia.

A devoted husband, father, and cherished brother, Rich will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Not sure what to say?

Rick, many moons have passed. We played together on the Hamady football teams. Where you managed to break a rib or 2 during the 2 a day practice. No one new until the next to last game of year. You also introduced me to my wife, sheila. Will always have good memories. See you around again someday. Steve Bates, class 69.

We were sorry to hear about Richie’s passing. God speed. Prayers for his family.

Our heartfelt condolences to Myra, Tanya, Dan and the Nowak family. Rich was a guy that was friendly to everyone he met!! Hold your memories close to your hearts.
