Mr. Riley William Henry, 84, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Mr. Henry was born December 1, 1940, in Macon County, NC to the late Grady Henry and Eula Houston Henry.
Riley worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation and did land surveying.
He wrote two books, "A Life for Nancy - Daughter of Frankie Silver" with Danita Stoudemire and "Pen in Hand - David Parker Civil War Letters". He published stuff on Facebook, was big in the historical museum and genealogy. He loved walking, hiking, gardening and taking pictures of nature.
He was a member of Elijay Baptist Church.
His greatest joy and love were being a husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Wanda Henry; a daughter, Rita Henry Whitley; a granddaughter, Cassie Sloan Henry; brother, Warren Henry (Sue); sister, Stella Young; and two brother-in-law's, Richard Cook and Parker Adams.
In addition to his parents, Riley was preceded in death by a daughter, Rachel Henry; two sisters, Lydia Conley and Carrie Lee Cook; brother, Conrad Henry; and two brothers-in-law's, Chip Young and Adolph Conley.
Per Riley's wishes there will be no formal service.
In lieu of flowers the family ask memorials to be made to Kaylee's Closet; No Wrong Door; or to an animal rescue of your choice.
