Family-Placed Death Notice
CHAFIN, Robert ROBERT NICHOLSON CHAFIN SR. Bob Chafin, age 78, of Roswell, GA. passed away on June 28, 2008. He was the beloved husband for 56 years of Jean Thomas Chafin and father of Robert N. "Nick" Chafin Jr., CPA ."Big Bob" is also survived by his 3 grandchildren, Kristen Leigh, Tyler Nicholson, and Laura Elizabeth and daughter-in-law Pam Pickel Chafin. Born April 13, 1930, in Lexington, GA., Bob was the son of Lawrence Vernon and Mary Nicholson Chafin. Bob served in the United States Air force in Korea during 1952. He attended Reinhardt College and was a blue key graduate of Ga. State University and received an honor award from the Ga. Society of CPAs. Bob retired from Shell Oil Company after thirty-five years of service in management and accounting. Bob lived a life dedicated to his family and his Savior. He will also be remembered for his roles in numerous Christian organizations including his service as an elder in four churches; Committee member of the North American Christian Convention; a founding board member of GA. Christian Campus ministry, Trustee and Chairman of Christian City; Treasurer of GA Christian Missionary Rally; Board member for European Evangelistic Society; Board advisor for Southwest Christian Hospice; Associate in Christian Education for Emmanuel School of Religion and advisor for Johnson Bible College. Funeral services will be at 10:30AM on June 30, 2008 at First Christian Church of Roswell where he and Jean were active members. A graveside service will be at 3:00 PM, Sunset Cemetery in Maxey's GA. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Christian City, 7300 Lester Rd., Union City, GA 30291, are appreciated. Arrangements by H.M. Jean, my prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. Bob will be missed. He was such a good friend to everyone.
I was fortunate to have him as my manager at Shell Oil Company for several years. He was always kind and caring.

Mrs Chafin. We take care of many patients day in and day out and hopefully have a positive impact on their lives - I have never seen an office environment react so strongly to a patient of ours passing away as they did this morning. Everyone was truly saddened to learn of Roberts passing.
Your commitment to your husbands care was remarkable and refreshing to everyone on our team. We will miss hearing from you and wish you all the best. Your Healthfield team.

Jean and Nick/family, my heart was saddenned when I heard of Bob's passing but Sharon and I delighted in the thought of Bob and Dude/Frank being reunited and carrying on about old times. I pray for and know of God's comfort for all of y'all.
