Local Entrepreneur Dies
Robert L. Harris, Sr., 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 10, 2014. Robert was raised in Petersburg, Virginia by his late grandmother, Annie Mae Harris. He was a well-respected business man as owner of Auto-Van Center and numerous rental properties. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Rosemary Harris; sons, Robert L Harris, Jr. and wife, Danielle of Chester, Russell Thompson and wife, Ute of Hopewell; daughters, Rhonda Reynolds and husband, Rob of Iowa, and Renee Dove and husband, David of California; grandchildren, Wil and Andrew Reynolds, Russell and Trevor Thompson, Ryanne and Dallas Harris, Holly Stokoe, Kaleb Cline, Daniella Calbert and James Reagh; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Katrina, Noah and Kensley; brother, Hector Elmore of Gordonsville; sisters Ann Ozmore of Richmond and Ettalee Spiers; brother-in-law, Wesley Harris, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to Sheila Vick and the staff at the Dunlop House in Colonial Heights. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Life Church, 16801 Harrowgate Rd, S Chesterfield, VA 23834, with Reverend Bryan Briggs officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia, with military honors. The family will receive friends Sunday April 13, 2014 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Destination Church, 300 Southpark Cir, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, or The Super Kids, P.O. Box 637 Hopewell, VA 23860. Not sure what to say?

Having just learned of his passing, I am remembering his smile, sense of humor and can still recall the sound of his voice.
He helped me when I was a teenager to transition living on my own. He shared his wisdom and humor; he positively influenced my life. I will remember Robert always.
We are blessed to have known him.

So sorry to hear of the passing of a great friend for 30 plus years. Never saw Robert without a smile on his face. A car guy that will be greatly missed. Condolences to his family as they struggle thru a difficult time.

I was shocked about Roberts passing. I knew him all my life when we all grew up on Grove Ave in Petersburg My sister and I married his two frinds She married Bobby martin I married his brother Charles. I remember Robert keeping his motorcycle in his grandma"s living room. What a great guy he was all his life Condolences to all of his family he will surely be missed Pat Tomlin and Shirley Martin and Charles Martin
