My condolences to you, Barbara, and the family. I worked with Bob in ALA's Publishing. Bob's encyclopedic memory of the books published in the past and their sales numbers amazed us all in their accuracy. He enjoyed the game of matching his more realistic projections against editor's blue-sky optimism. We could always count on Bob to get us the answers we needed, but best of all, he was always fun to be around.

Bob was hilarious. He was also interesting, curious and genuinely kind. He made so many ALA meetings and conferences and winter events memorable. He also made fun of my Irish accent all the time and I loved it. We often discussed the relative merits of movies, dogs, travel and cookies in his tardis-like office replete with a velvet painting of dogs playing poker. He worshipped Barb and adored his french bulldogs. He was just wonderful. My sincere condolences to Barb and to Bob´s wider circle...
