Elkins, NH – Robert (Bob) G. MacMichael passed away at his home on April 29, 2014 surrounded by his family which meant so much to him. Bob was born on November 17, 1925 in Concord, NH to John and Esther (Coburn) MacMichael. Bob has lived in New London/Elkins since the 1st grade.

Bob was a US Navy veteran, serving during WWII with the Seabees in the Pacific Theatre at Guadalcanal and Okinawa. Bob owned and operated his painting and window company in Elkins, Bob's Shop, for over 50 years. He loved his work and worked diligently in it until physically unable to continue in 2012. He continued to manage the business until his final days and was very proud to have worked independently for as long as he had. In his earlier years Bob had also worked at Twin Lake Villa in Springfield, NH, for Joy Manufacturing in Claremont and for the Cleveland family in New London during the 1960's.

Bob and Janet were presented the Third of a Century Award in 1996 for their community support and involvement. Bob is twice Past Commander and 55 year member of the American Legion Post #40. He is past Noble Grand and 60 year member of Heidelberg Lodge #92 IOOF and 50+ year member of the New London Service Organization. He is also a longtime member of the Elkins Chapel Society, the Elkins Bandstand Committee, The First Baptist Church of New London and New London Boys Club. In 1988 he received the Beall Award from the Boys Club for his dedication to family and community. Bob had also served the Town of New London as Selectman for 9 years, Ballot Clerk and Forest Fire Warden.

He was predeceased by a son, R. David "Bobby" MacMichael, in 1994.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Janet (Lull) MacMichael, a son, Douglas of New London, a daughter, Shannon (MacMichael) MacLeod and her husband Philip of Elkins; 6 grandchildren; Melissa, Scott, Josh, Blake, Taylor, and Lyndsey, and 6 great-grandchildren; Payton, Skylar, Levi, MacKenzie, Madelyn and Conor.
