Roy Lee Tilley After a long battle with illness, Our beloved Roy went home to meet his Lord and Savior; and to be re-united with his cherished daughter Sherry, on January 1, 2010. Roy passed away under the loving care of Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House. Roy was born on March 18, 1924 in Tehuacana, Texas to the Parents of Roy and Willie Tilley. The family soon moved to New London, TX. Roy was celebrating his 13th birthday on the day of the explosion at the New London School. To avoid Birthday "Lashes" from the older boys at school Roy decided to "play hookie" that afternoon which saved his life that day. Family describes him as a survivor his entire life. Roy went on to graduate from New London High School. After graduation, He went on to join the Army and was part of the 3rd Infantry division European Theater War. In 1943-1945. Roy came home to marry his sweetheart Louise Henderson in June 1945. They have been inseparable ever since. Roy began working for Texas Eastman in 1951 until he retired in 1984 as an Electrician Foreman. Roy was a member of the Longview Masonic Lodge #404 as a Master Mason. Roy was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Willie Tilley and beloved daughter Sherry. Survivors include his wife, Louise Tilley(who showed every day the true meaning of love and devotion to her husband). son-in-law, Jack Carlton. Brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Doris Tilley. two sisters-in-laws, Imogene Daniels and Christine Villyard. Numerous Aunts and Uncles. Beloved nieces and nephews, Debra Tullis; Lesa Eubanks; William Villyard; Dwayne Villyard; Dianne Johnson; Michael Henderson; Jimmy Henderson; and Teresa Hodges. Numerous great nieces and great nephews. The family would like to thank the home caregivers; Loretta Spear, Peggy Nelson, Tammy Batts, and Velma Edwards. The family would also like to thank Beacon Hospice and Margaret's House staff for all the love and care you gave. Special thanks to Hospice staff, Kay Johnson LVN and Hospice aide Judy Murphy, and Ken Williams Social Worker. Visitation will be held Tuesday January 5th at 11AM at Rader Funeral Home 1617 Judson Road followed by the service at 12pm. with Bill Arden, David Badders from Beacon Hospice and former co-worker Oliver Rudd. Burial will follow at Rosewood Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Pallbearers will be former co-workers from Texas Eastman: Leon Carnes, Joe Mackey, Steve Bell-Flower, Bill Hardway, Wayne Taylor and Don Guess. In Lieu of flowers, Family request that donations be made to Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House 5016 Gilmer Road Longview, Tx. 75604.
