Ruben Mendez, age 37 of Pearsall, Texas passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019, in San Antonio. He was born in Pearsall on June 17, 1981, to Francisco and Adela (Ramos) Mendez.



Ruben is survived by his daughter, Alejandra Mendez of Pearsall; his parents, Francisco and Adela Mendez of Pearsall; fiancé, Lanita Cabrera of Pearsall; brothers, Gonzalo Mendez and wife Teresa of Devine, Sergio Mendez and wife Angelica of Bigfoot, Daniel Mendez of Pearsall; nieces, Mackenzie Meza, Iliana Mendez and Alora Mendez; nephews, Sergio F. Mendez, Isaias Mendez and Josue Mendez, several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.



Ruben earned his education degree from Sul Ross & Texas Tech University. He worked with Pearsall ISD for several years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and played with the church choir. Ruben loved to play music with his brothers and will be greatly missed.



Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2019, in the Hurley Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with interment to follow in the Pearsall Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Gonzalo Mendez, Sergio R. Mendez, Daniel Mendez, TJ Ramos, Sergio F. Mendez and Juan Ramos Jr. Honorary Pallbearers are Mackenzie Meza, Iliana Mendez, Alora Mendez, Isaias Mendez, Josue Mendez.
