Ruth L. Brownlee Ruth L. Brownlee, 90, of Waynesboro, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 21, 2013. She was born on July 9, 1922, in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Liddle. As a homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, baking and sewing. She was a charter member of Westwood Baptist Church, having served as a member of the choir, a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, a GA and Acteen leader. Starting and maintaining a food pantry ministry at Westwood Baptist Church was a special interest of Ruth and her husband Sherwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Sherwood S. Brownlee. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Penny Brownlee Cannaday and her husband, Bob, of Harrisonburg, Mark Brownlee and his wife, Betsy, of Nellysford, Sharon Brownlee of Richmond, John Brownlee and his wife, Dawn, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many wonderful friends and church family. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at McDow Funeral Home. A service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at McDow Funeral Home by Dr. Maurice McCarthy Jr. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be the Deacons of Westwood Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Westwood Baptist Church, 2124 Davis Road, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
