Dear Shuman Family,
How can I ever forget how wonderful Dr. Shuman was to me and my whole family (the Linsky family). I spent so much time in his care as a child (as did all of us) and he was always so funny and friendly. He had a special name that he called me and always made me smile.My Dad would do magic tricks for him and Dr. Shuman always magically made us feel better.
How I wish we could go back to the "good old days".

HE HAD A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR, EVERY TIME I THINK OF HIM I SMILE, AS A KID HE WOULD ALWAYS HAVE ME LAUGHING. HE IS THE LAST OF A BREED OF PHYSICIANS THAT WE DON'T SEE ANYMORE. PLEASE TAKE SOLACE IN KNOWING THAT HE WAS NOT ONLY A GOOD MAN, BUT A GREAT MAN WHO HELPED THE SICK, EASED THE PAIN OF MANY AND MADE ALL OF HIS PATIENTS FEEL...

I have very fond memories of Dr. Shuman - first at his office on Washington Street in Dorchester (and a nice lady named Mary was his nurse) and his house calls, always in a sharp new Thunderbird. He removed my brother's and my tonsils at the old Harley Hospital in Dorchester. He was a very kind man, a warm physician and a good friend to my parents. I got a very nice card from him when my own mother died in Florida some nine years ago. My sincere condolences for your great loss.

Dr. Shuman was our family doctor since my twin brother and I came into the world in the middle 40's. I remember fondly the house calls he would make when we were too sick to wait in the "waiting room" in the Washington Street office. His ultimate house call for us was when he took our tonsils out at home. In 1949 I contracted polio and after discharge from the hospital he treated me throughout my childhood often boasting to anyone nearby that I was his first polio patient. I last saw him at...

We were both truly sorry to hear about his demise. May Almighty God give you and your family the strength to get through this difficult time in your lives.

Dr.Sam came to my mother's home on Rowell St. Dorchester, on a New Years Day when she had pneumonia. How could I ever thank him for that? I have always been thankful for Sam's kindness coming to her house when she was not even a patient of his. I had called my sister-in-law, Rita Saro, who worked for Dr. Sam. He will always be remembered by me.
