I'm so sorry for your loss. Our family played in the Olympia Highlanders and traveled to Scotland with Scott. We had so much fun. Although I haven't seen Scott in over 30 yrs, I'll remember his kindness, humor, silliness and maturity (for him it made sense and went together). My thoughts are prayers are with your family.
Sincerely
Laurie (Kildow) Gardner

Scott, you have always been an inspiration to me and I want to thank you for taking the time out of your busy life to offer advice whenever I called. Your dedication to excellence in everything that you did and the work-life balance you maintained is the standard that I try to follow. I admired your dedication to your family; and the large number of people from across the county who have been reaching out to your family is a testament to the impact you had. You constantly strived to help those in need and always did what you believed to be the right thing. We will miss you and your guidance. Our community lost a great leader and I lost a good friend. My deepest condolences to Karen and Chloe. All of us around you are here to support you in this difficult time. We all grieve together and cherish the time we got to spend with Scott.

Karen and Chloe: I am happy that you had the joy of having Scott in your lives. He will be etched in my memory as father to a wonderful daughter and really indulging host and sponsor to many TSNW events. I will keep your entire family in my prayers.

Scott's passion for causes great and small was inspirational; his sense of justice boundless; his friendship a gift. Everyone was better for having met him, and luckier still to have known him.
Karen and Chloe: While there are no words we could ever leave here sufficient to bind up the wounds of losing your husband; losing your dad; it's helpful to me to think that his spirit lives on and burns brightest in the two of you--the ones he loved most...and the ones who loved him right back.

I had the pleasure of working with Scott while at DU from 1997-2003...I was a single mom with a daughter and he gave me a piece of advice I have never forgotten:
"Michele- just do good work and you'll be a great employee but be a great mom and you'll be a wonderful person!"
My heart goes out to you.

I had the pleasure of being Scott's assistant at Perkins Coie. He was one of my favorite attorneys to work with and truly a wonderful person. I particularly remember helping my friend, Chris, put together the "under the sea" murial that she painted on Chloe's bedroom wall. Karen and Chloe, I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

I will never forget a talk he gave at a Delta Upsilon Leadership Institute relating the Fraternity leadership to the Wizard of Oz. It helped me educate the chapters I visited as a Leadership Consultant. I will also forever be grateful for the home-cooked meal and bed while I was travelling to visit the Washington Chapter. Scott made a permanent mark on our great Fraternity and many men today are in debt to his service (myself included).

So sorry to hear about you leaving us so early, Scott. You are a good man and a wonderful husband. I wish Karen and Chloe the best during this very difficult time. I know this is so tough for them, as well as for all your friends and family. Chloe - your Dad may be gone from this world, but you still have the Best Dad that ever was, or ever could be, and I know he will be watching over you and your Mom.

It was a privilege and a pleasure to practice with Scott. He made everyone's days better just by being there. His light will go on in those who knew and cared for him.
