SUZANNE BONTE

I'm really, really late on this, but while looking up the name of Bonte in NYC to see if the new Manhattan cafe by that name was somehow related to Maurice and Suzy or their offspring, I Iearned about her passing. It saddens me. They were our most extraordinary patisserie when we lived nearby in the 1970's and then we became friends. Such lovely people. So kind. That "extra" croissant in the bag when we got home. So nice to our little sons back then. Best croissants in the world -including...

Perhaps a submission too late, but heartfelt none the less. Mme. Bonte was special. Warm, gracious, elegant and generous of spirit....and an occasional extra croissant if your flirtation was cute enough. She is sorely missed.

I am so saddened to find that Suzy passed away. When our holiday card returned, I thought something might have happened. We send you our condolences and love. She will forever have a very special place in our hearts. Barbara and Ron and Elizabeth ( Kelly and Hoffman)

Dear Caroline, My sympathy on the passing of your mother. I have so many happy memories of your parents and that delicious bakery that even my dog would pull me to whenever we walked on 3rd Avenue.Your parents loved my Murphy and would open the door for her and throw some delicious cookies to her.
