Pondering my memories of Thel

I had the privilege to do Thel's hair for about 15yrs. I appreciated her as a person and was always inspired by her courage and strength. Most especially when she was diagnosed and told she had a lethal bone tumor and the doctors wanted to amputate her lower arm. She refused, as she would not give up tennis, and instead had the tumor removed. What a trooper! She knew her mind and she had the personal integrity to stay her own course. An incredible role model. When I left hairstyling, I took...

As friends of your neighbors Robert & Mary Haviland of Roslyn, PA, in the early '50s, we have been confirmed fans of Family Circus. I recall two references to the Havilands in your early cartoons. So sorry to hear of your wife's passing and that she had Altzheimer. You have brought joy to the world.

Dear Bil, and Family: As a long time fan of The Family Circus, and in a random internet search, I came upon the artical of Thel's passing. As it approaches the one year anniversary, please accept my condolences. I have added her to my Rosary paryers.
God's blessings be with you all.

Dear Keanes: I just now found out about "Mommy" from The Family Circus passing away last month. She was one of my favorite characters in the comic panels. I had almost all of the comic strip books. The first real picture that I've seen of her was on the back of the book titled "I'll Shovel The Cards" which I bought when it was first released in the spring of '92. She seemed like a beautiful lady, and I'm sure she had an equally beautiful heart of gold too. Sometimes when I hear my two young...

From Childhood I grew up with "Family Circus" (My parents said myself and my siblings grew up IN one!)

As in FC, we grew up in a close family that was filled with the usual chaos-and love-that we have seen illustrated dfor these many years.

With Mrs. Keane's passing, we have ALL lost a family member, but we will always have the wonderful memories.

God Bless to Mrs. Keane and the Keane family
