Thomas Edward Chapman, 79, husband of Carol Cocanougher Chapman, passed away March 8, 2022 at his home.  Born in Mercer County, KY on November 25, 1942, Tom was the son of the late Curtis Chapman and Emma J. Chilton Chapman. 


Along with his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Chapman, and siblings, Jerelene Harley and Shelby Chapman. 


A farmer and gunsmith, Tom owned and operated the Country Gun Shop in Anderson County.  He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War.  He attended Claylick United Methodist Church and was a member of the Anderson Masonic Lodge #90, Shriners International, and a lifetime founding member of the Anderson County Sportsman’s Club. 


Including Carol, his wife of 61 years, Tom is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Sonny and Melissa Chapman; his grandson, Carver Thomas Chapman; brother-in-law Paul Harley, and niece Jackie Harley. 


Funeral service with military honors will be 1:00 PM Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Pastors Rocky and Denise Wallace officiating.  Visitation will be held 4 – 8 PM Friday with Masonic Rites at 7:30 PM Friday, and visitation 11 AM until time of service on Saturday.  


A private burial will be held on the Chapman Farm in Anderson County. 


Serving as pallbearers will be Carver Chapman, Nathan Nichols, Jack Wiedo, Barry Eubank, Eddie Hanks, Jeremy Cocanougher, and Michael Prophet.  Honorary bearers will be Pete Cox, Bobby Cubert, Richard Pennie, Wayne Johnston, Chris Lee, Billy Cummins, and Steve Shryock. 


While flowers are welcome, memorials in memory of Thomas E. Chapman are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
