Tobias Joseph Houppert

February 12, 1982 – October 30, 2025

Tobias “Toby” Houppert, 43, passed away on October 30, 2025, after a brief stay at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, surrounded by his devoted family.

Born on February 12, 1982, Toby was the beloved son of John and Darlene (Bishop) Houppert. He grew up in Carthage, NY, alongside his loving siblings-Jon Houppert (Valerie); Dustin Houppert (Jonell); and Bethany Houppert-Logsdon (Erik). He was a proud uncle to his nephews Jackson, Kaiden, Finn, and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his soon-to-be niece. He is also survived by his cherised Grandmother, Ann Bishop, whose love, patience, and guidance helped shape the person he became, along with numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.

Known for his quick wit, his signature “Oh my God!”, and his love for calling and FaceTiming family and friends, Toby had a gift for connection and a heart that naturally saw the good in everyone. He cared deeply about others, always taking the time to make people feel seen and loved.

Though his life held many challenges, nothing ever dimmed his spirit. No matter what he was facing, he greeted everyone with a genuine smile-often followed by a laugh that could fill a room. His energy, kindness, and childlike joy lifted those around him and made every moment brighter. As a natural comedian, he brought humor and comfort when we needed it most, always reminding us not to take life too seriously. His memory will live on in the joy and love he shared so freely.

He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Carthage, where his faith, laughter, and genuine warmth touched those who worshiped beside him.

Toby was predeceased by his Grandparents, Stanley and Mary Sue Houppert; Grandfather, Robert Bishop; and Aunt, Kelly Todd.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 12 p.m. at Calvary Assembly of God in Carthage, NY. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 1:30pm at Elks Lodge in Carthage.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled Persons Action Organization (DPAO) or The ARC, in honor of Toby’s beautiful spirit and the joy he brought to so many.

To know toby, was to love him- wholly, easily, and without hesitation. His laughter and light will echo in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to call him family or friend.

He was a very kind young man . I had met him while working with Arc . So sorry for your loss he will be missed .

Toby was my friend. He suggested that I wear my wedding dress every Sunday. Such a precious memory. Miss you, buddy.

I did not know Toby, but I remember Jonell speaking fondly of him. It is obvious he was loved, and loved others well. My prayer is that you all feel God’s peace in this time of sorrow as you adjust to life without Toby’s light shining each day in your lives. May joyful memories of him bring you solace.
