Viola Virginia Carlton, 72, a long-time resident of Blythe for the past 59 years, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2014. She was born November 2, 1941 in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Arthur and Lessie Peterson.
Viola's family came to Blythe in 1955 and she married Bob Carlton in 1958. She was married to the love of her life for 56 years. She had a love for life and the outdoors. She enjoyed working in her yard and going camping and fishing. Viola loved having her family around; she looked forward to a good laugh when they were all together.
Viola also had a passion for helping and working with children. While being employed with the Riverside County School District, she worked in the department of children with special needs.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Carlton; her children, Larry Carlton, David Carlton, Kenneth Carlton, William Leon Peterson, and Janet Carlton; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Viola was a great wife, mother and grandmother. She will be extremely missed by her family and those who were fortunate to know her. Her memory will be carried on through her family and friends.
Memorial service for Viola will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at Frye Chapel with interment following immediately after services at Palo Verde Cemetery.
