Chadwick Funeral and Cremation Service, LLC - New London Obituary

Typrowicz, Wiktoria "Vicky" of Westford, MA, died January 19, 2012 at the age of 85. Beloved by her late husband Wladyslaw Typrowicz with whom she shared 63 years of marriage, and her daughters Anna Typrowicz, Liz Nelson, and Terry LeBlanc, she will be remembered for how much she adored her family and never hesitated to tell them how much they meant to her.

Vicky lived life to its fullest, engaged and ever curious. All who knew her enjoyed her optimism, good humor, spectacular garden, delicious cakes, and exceptional hospitality. To enter her home was to be fed.

Born in Poland September 23, 1926, she was among the hundreds of thousands deported to the Soviet Union during WW2 but was among the fortunate evacuated to the Middle East in 1943. She completed her education in Nazareth, in then Palestine, at a high school created under the protection of the Polish Army. It served as a haven for girls, half of whom were orphaned, all traumatized by the war. At this school she forged life-long friendships. The end of the war found her in Italy for several months, where she met her future husband, and then England, where she wed and lived for 20 years. After three years in the Netherlands, the family emigrated to the U.S. in 1968, living first in Belmont before settling in Westford, MA. Vicky worked at John Hancock Insurance at Copley Square for 20 years.

Vicky was an enthusiastic traveler. She and her husband explored destinations as diverse as Mexico, Greece, Brazil, and the U.S national parks. They were also avid concert goers-Celebrity Series ticket holders for many years.

In addition to her daughters, Vicky is mourned by sons-in-law Rich Cohen of Norwich, VT, and Tom LeBlanc of New London, NH; Liz's fiancé David Weaver; seven grandsons: Josh, Nate, Mark, David and his wife Jocelyn, Andrew and his fiancé Anna, Peter and his fiancé Sylvia, Chris and his wife Meredith, and Benjamin, their son and her great grandson. She was predeceased by son-in-law Philip Nelson.

You are invited to celebrate Vicky's life at a memorial service Sunday, January 29th, 2 P.M., at Drumlin Farm Nature Center, Massachusetts Audubon Society, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA. Please send contributions in her name to New London Hospital, New London, NH, where she received exemplary care during her final days; the Boston Symphony Orchestra; or to a charity of choice.
