Graveside service for Willard A. Bowling, 92, of Decatur was held Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Roselawn Cemetery with Evan Bowling and O.D. Bowling officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Bowling, who died Sunday, April 11, 2010, at his residence, was born February 28, 1918, in Lawrence County. He retired from Redstone Arsenal. He served in the U.S. Navy and flew on the Honor Flight last year. His wife of 62 years, Doris Bowling, preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Bowling (J.C.); one brother, Austelle Bowling; two grandchildren, Suzanne Roberts McAnear (Tim) and Jay Roberts; and three great-grandchildren, Matt Baldwin, Seth McAnear and Ella McAnear.
Pallbearers were Jay Roberts, Matt Baldwin, Tim McAnear, Seth McAnear, Steven Turner, Johnny Johnson, Marshall Shelton and Hayward Shelton.
Honorary pallbearers were Doyle Whitlow, Lou Taylor and Ella McAnear.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.

I'm so sorry to hear of death of your Grandfather, I understand your loss and know he will be terribly missed by all of your family. I have such great memories of him at Matt and Brad's ballgames, he was always there and so supportive of the boys. You are so blessed to have had him in your life for so long.
