William Clyde Roberts, 80, of Newton passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Carolina Caring in Newton.
He was born on January 4, 1943 to the late Wayne C. Roberts and Thelma Redmon Roberts in Madison County. Clyde was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. He loved to listen to Gospel music. Clyde was a resident of Newton for 20 years. Before retirement, Clyde worked as a Corporate Traffic Manager for Black and Decker.
Along with his parents, his granddaughter, Carrie Ann Sponseller; brothers, Herschel Roberts and Fred Roberts preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Roberts of the home; daughters, Paula Roberts of Greensboro and Tonya Sponseller and husband Mike of Hanover, PA.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the church. Dr. Tim Jernigan, Dr. Ed Yount, and Rev. Mike Sponseller will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
