Charlotte, Brad, Lori & Grandchildren- Our thoughts and prayers are with your families during this time of great sadness. Will always remember the times Bill use to come and visit us on the farm and the way we looked up to him, our oldest cousin. He was one of the most gentle, soft-spoken gentlemen we ever known and will be missed.

Charlotte - I was very sorry to learn of Bill's passing - his smile was always a delight. It was wonderful sharing the same neighborhood with your family for so many years. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Irene Habel, Yorkville, Il

Bill Shanks was the classic good fellow. As my Mother-in-law liked to say, "He has a nice way about him." Upon meeting my wife, Carol, he said,"We're outlaws." His humor was an important part of him - and he wasn't above being a bit of a tease. He delighted in showing visitors the charms of his Arizona Winter getaway. Most of all he loved Charlotte and his children.

Bill will be missed! I remember him laughing and having a great time at Gay and Carl's home with the family. He enjoyed life and was so proud of you all. May the Lord comfort you in your great loss.

My children grew up on the knee of "Uncle" Bill! I cherish the memories of all our camping trips - especially the campfires with the Shanks family! Uncle Bill and Uncle Bob are probably up there sitting in the shade along the river telling stories! Love and hugs and prayers to Aunt Char, Brad, and Lori and your family on your loss. God's peace be with you.
