William Stanley Somerville Sr.
William Stanley Somerville Sr. passed away on the morning of Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at his home in Harvey, Louisiana. William was born on September 17, 1942, in Oregon City, Oregon, the son of Wilford and Grace Irene (nee Berry) Somerville. He completed the 11th grade at John Marshall High School, and worked as a city bus driver at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority for 20+ years in Los Angeles, CA. William was the loving and devoted husband and companion of 26-years of Pamela E. Somerville (nee Laners); the dedicated father of Joseph Somerville Sr. and Jimmy Somerville; loving brother and grandfather to a vast host of siblings and grandchildren, and great grandchildren. William was preceded in death by his eldest son William Somerville Jr., his father Wilford S. Somerville, his mother Grace Irene Somerville (nee) Berry; and his beloved sister Lethia Tanner (nee) Somerville. Bill enjoyed creating carpentry characters in his spare time; adored children, oft times reverting to childhood himself while engaging in play; and was never known to hold a grudge for very long. He also enjoyed traveling, listening to nostalgic tunes and collecting and restoring antique cars. Due to city regulations, only a limited number of relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with Funeral Services to follow at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home, 2120 Jackson Ave. in New Orleans, Louisiana. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard in Metairie, Louisiana.
