Graveside services celebrating the life of Windy Chatelain Lanier will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2016 with Cecile Barrios officiating. Services are under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.

Mrs. Lanier, 87, of Cartersville, Georgia, formerly of Alexandria, passed from this life on Friday, June 24, 2016, at the residence of her daughter.

Not only did she care for her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, but also for others as a "Pink Lady" for 35 years at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. Mrs. Lanier was an artist and was passionate about painting.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Carroll Lanier, former Mayor of Alexandria; son, Brian Lanier; parents, Winnfield and Cora Mayeaux Chatelain; sisters, Thelma Allen, Dot Will and Peggy Chatelain; and brother, Herman Chatelain.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Kathy Lanier Miller and Theresa Lanier Massey; son, Steve Lanier; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
