Jules Loeb Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 17 to Sep. 26, 2008.
Jules Loeb (1917-2008) Passed away at his home in Toronto on September 15th. Jules led a full and wonderful life. He will be missed by Fay, his loving wife of 66 years, by his daughters Audrey Loeb and Karen Irwin, and their husbands David Ross and Steve Irwin; by his grandchildren T.H. and Greg; and his great grandchildren Samantha Rose (8), Allyson (7), Jason (4), and Oscar (2 weeks). Jules was born and raised in Ottawa, where he became a national business leader, as a principal of M. Loeb Limited, one of Canada's premier grocery chains. Jules was prominently engaged in philanthropic and Jewish community activities. He also served as the Mayor of Lucerne, Quebec. Jules and Fay had a passion for furthering Canadian art, and over time, established one of the foremost private Canadian art collections. The focus of Jules' life was his family with whom he spent much of his time. We will always remember the skip in his step, the smile on his face, and the twinkle in his eye. A private family memorial service celebrating Jules will be held in Toronto. Visitation will be held at 12 Shorncliffe Ave. (St. Clair and Spadina Road) on Wednesday Sept 17 and Thursday Sept 18 from 2-5pm, and 7-9pm. Donations in Jules' memory may be made to the Ontario Lung Association 416-864-9911, www.lung.ca or a charity of your choice.
