I saw the notice at Starbucks this morning and remember now where I met you both...at last October's Psych Conference exhibit hall. I was working at a booth involving nutrition you both were interested in. We chatted for a good half hour and I knew Dr. Viele was special as was his wife--both so warm and wonderful and so interested in helping others. What a loss. I'm so sorry.

Peter, our children and I visited Bills grave today. We each brought a flower, one for Bil and one for Brandy. Then vi all said our godbyes and talked about how we are going to miss Bill. Later today Pernille asked when she would stop thinking about Bill all the time and missing him. I did not know what to say. I had to tell her that I don't think we ever will stop thinking about him and missing him, but that with time it will hurt less. I really miss him, especially in the morning. I miss how he called every day and always tried to say something different on the phone even though he was just calling to pick up Freddy. I will miss seing the stars in his eyes, that he always got when I brought in homemade cookies, or when he talked about those he cared about. I never thought that it was possible to love a neighbor as much as we love you Fran and how we all loved Bill. I will always be greatfull for having known such a great Man as him.

My sincere condolences to the entire Viele family and extended members. I met Dr. Viele when I was 18 and needed my first ob/gyn. A friend of my mother's had highly recommended I see Dr. Viele at his office in Poway. From the first moment I met him, I was completely at ease with Dr. Viele. He was a gentle, understanding doctor who made sure he took the time to talk with me and explain procedures. His calling as a physician was certainly appropriate... his patience, calmness, and knowledge could put even the most anxious person at ease. Anyone entering the medical field today should take note of what it means to be a true professional, as exemplified by Dr. Viele. He will truly be missed, both as a caring humanitarian and a devoted family man. I consider myself truly fortunate to have known him as I did, over 25 years ago. My prayers are with you all.

Dear Fran,
I was shocked to hear that Bill had been killed. My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. Bill and I were classmates in highschool and were very good friends. He and I and Alice Layman competed for top academic honors and Alice won, Bill beat me, and was number 2 and I was number 3. The truth is he was smarter than I was but he was still a wonderful friend. I know you will miss him greatly.

My husband and I saw this that morning, I am so sad for you and have been ever since. Boy, he sure was a handsome Naval Officer. And from his obituary he was surely nothing short of extraordinary!! I am truly grieving for you, all of you. Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to each one of you. I hope you all continue to feel his warmth because he left that behind for you.

Best.

Our sincerest condolences to all of Dr. Viele's family. Ed and I are so sorry to hear of your tragic loss. Words seem so insignificant at a time like this. We had the opportunity to meet and work with Dr. Viele many years ago at PPH when he would come in and assist in surgery. He was a genuine loving soul who loved his family dearly. I remember him always smiling. We pray for your peace and comfort in knowing that your dear loved one is in the arms of our Lord.

Our Love,
Donna and Ed Morasco
