Willeen H. Hasler, 82 OCEANSIDE -- Willeen H. Hasler passed away after a brief illness Thursday, August 18, 2011 in Oceanside. She was born in Missouri but resided most of her life in California. She is survived by her son, Farrel Johnson of Oceanside; daughter, Marleen and Dave Wight of Oceanside; sister, Jane Hobbs of Oregon; and brother, Sid Hastings of Missouri; and numerous other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hasler. Willeen was always very involved in business and teaching with various organizations. She began as a secretary and office manager for Santa Paula High School and Assistant to the Ventura Community College President. She was the Staff Coordinator and several Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce events, trade shows, and installation dinners. During this same time, she owned her own business for Home Owner Association meeting minutes, laws, Robert's Rules of order, and inspector of elections. She also volunteered as a SCORE counselor for Small Businesses and Director of Women's Business conferences. Willeen enjoyed teaching at Mira Costa and Palomar Community College in business related classes and how to start your own business. Her Business memberships included Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce (Member of the Year 2000, 2001, Lifetime commitment to Service); Oceanside Chamber of Commerce; LeTip International-Business Networking Member of the Year 1988; ABWA Member of the Year 1984; Professional Secretaries International Palomar Chapter Member of the Year 1996; Soroptimist International Oceanside Member of the Year 1991; Who's Who of San Diego Women 1985; Association of Records Managers and Administrators Member of the Year 1982; SCORE Counselor and Women's Business Owners; Regional and Chapter coordinator and women's programs. Willeen and all of her involvements were always to advocate Women in Business and encourage growth and development. There will be a memorial service at the First Presbyterian Church of Oceanside, 2001 S. El Camino Real on Friday, September 2nd at 10 a.m., and donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Memorial Fund in Willeen's honor. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com

I still awaken in prayer for you. So many times during the day I want to call and tell you something or ask you something. I miss our British movie and popcorn nights! You made my life so much brighter with your loving acceptance, wise inputs, heartfelt feedback, and encouraging prayers. I miss you desperately!

Today, Sept. 2nd, we meet at the church you loved, to pay honor to you, our friend and faithful member of the Laguna Vista MHE Bible study. We saw you come to class when it was evident you were struggling with pain and illness. To us, this said, "She puts God first in her life!" Now God says to you, "Welcome home! No pain, no sorrow here!"

Willeen, you are missed here, but we know where you are, and for this, we rejoice!

When I worked for the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce she was my mentor. Willeen would say to me, I would suggest doing it this way. Thank you Willeen for your guidance, patience, friendship and the Robert's Rules book you gave me. You will be missed but always remembered.

Willeen arrived at the Carlsbad chamber and brought organization, good humor, and the best community service skills. Events ran smoother, board members were happier, and the staff less harried because she was there. She shared her skills and joy for life with all who knew her. It is a sad loss for all who worked with her and love her.
