Alice A. Chidester

Alice A. Chidester, 94 ESCONDIDO -- Alice A. Chidester passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011. She was born March 22, 1917 in Big Pine, California to August and Alice Belfort. At six years old, the family moved to Escondido, California. Alice graduated from Escondido High School in 1935 and later graduated from Palomar College in 1967 with her Associates degree. She worked as office manager and bookkeeper for Dr.'s Craig and Greer from 1968 to 2005, until she retired at the age of 88. Alice loved her family, gardening, and going to the Wild Animal Park. She is survived by her five children, Joan Bateman, John Chidester (Susan), Becky Andersen, Susie Cassidy (George) and Janet Hoffman (Chuck); as well as eight grandchildren, six great- grandchildren, one great- great-grandson; and her cat "Snowball." She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary; and her grandson, Aaron. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Escondido, California. Reception will follow at Alice's house.
