Paul Weakly Obituary

Paul R. Weakly, Sr.

HANOVER: Paul R. Weakly, Sr., 81, of Hanover, OH passed away at his residence on Thursday, May 12, 2011. Paul was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 13, 1930 to the late Arthur and Sarah (Oder) Weakly.

He attended the Ben Davis High School where he joined the ROTC, 1946-48 and the Marine Reserves until his graduation, class of '48. Shortly after graduation he entered into the United States Marine Corp and was sent to Korea where he proudly served his country, completing his duty at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was an active member of the Lynhearst Baptist Church in Indianapolis, singing in the choir and other activities within the church. After his tour he moved to Tampa FL where he worked for American Can Co. and Leo's Wrecking Service. In 1952 he married his best friend from High School, Miss Phyllis J. West. They celebrated over 55 years together before her passing in 2008. After 4 children, they moved to Newark, OH where he went to work for the Newark Air Force Station as a machinist. He retired in 1988 after 22 years of service. Paul was a member of Heath Baptist Church and then Eastland Heights Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. Paul enjoyed bowling and loved his grandchildren.

Along with his parents and wife, Paul was preceded in death by his brother and his grandson, Andrew Jackson Weakly.

Paul's survivors include his children, Margaret Jean (Jim)Antritt-Black, Paul R. (Becky) Weakly Jr., Mark N. Weakly, and Ramona M. Baker (Bob Hart); grandfather of Margaret "Dolly" (Rick) Clouse, Paulleana Smith, Keri R. Weakly, Trent Weakly, Phillip E. Baker, Brandy L. Baker (Deshawn Guthrie), Jimmy Black, Bird (Christina) Black, Billie Jo Black, Betsy Taylor, Clarence Black; great grandfather of Brandon, Clinton, Ashly, Felicia, Jordan, Passion, Rachel, Destiny, Zackary, Jaydon, Chauncey, Tristan, Cody, Jack Jack, Brandon, Daviegh, Bricen, Brooklynn, Breanna, Alexis, and Nathaniel.

The family will be receiving friends at the Criss Schoedinger Funeral Home, 179 Granville St. Newark, OH on Sunday May 15, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with service at 4:00 p.m. Interment will be private. i'll always miss you i wish i could see you one more time i thought or hoped i would im sorry i didnt find out sooner about the misfortune and missed your gathering that pains me the most im glad your with your wife i remember calling you guys those ridicoulus names big papa and big mama what pained me the most was i couldnt cry when i heard the news tears wouldnt come sorry for that i took the news like somone takes the weather for that i am so sorry. i wish i could see you one more time.your great grandson JORDAN
