Leo Mallonee Obituary

Leo Raymond Mallonee

NEWARK: A Mass of Christian Burial for Leo Raymond Mallonee, 91, of Newark, will be held at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2011 with Fr. Jonathan Wilson officiating. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Ray, a United Sates Army Air Corps Veteran, died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. He was born in Newark on December 20, 1919 to the late Leo R. and Clara A. (Seaman) Mallonee.

Ray was a 1938 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and was very devoted to his family and church life. He was a lifelong parishioner of The Church of the Blessed Sacrament where he served for over 50 years as an usher and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He also enjoyed spending his quiet time reading books and working crossword puzzles.

Ray is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen A. and Jeffrey Gaumer of Newark; his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael P. and Virgene Mallonee of Arcanum, Ohio, and William F. and Elizabeth Mallonee of Pewaukee, Wisconsin; his grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin and Tammy Mallonee, Adam and Julianne Mallonee, Courtney Mallonee, and Eric and Lacey Gaumer; his five great-grandchildren, Erin, Joshua, Haley, Ethan, and Jayden Mallonee; his sister, Mary Howell of Newark, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mildred and Ervin Konieczny of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his nephew, Fr. Bob Mallonee of Massachusetts; and his niece and her husband, Christine and Denny Wirick of Newark; and several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia (Otto) Mallonee; his grandson, Scott Mallonee; his brother, John Mallonee; and his brother-in-law, William Howell.

Friends and family may call from 4-7 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2011 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 p.m.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Blessed Sacrament Building Fund, 378 East Main Street, Newark; or Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark.
