I grew up with Denny in Toboso. I remember when Denny lived below the hill and then moved above the hill because of the Dillon Dam. The kids in Toboso had great times together (bike rides, hikes, ball games, etc.). I attended Sunday School with Denny at The Toboso Methodist Church. Walt and Letha, the prayers of my family are with you.

Denny was my oldest friend. We went through 12 years of school together and while we attended separate colleges we made a point of seeing each other often. I will never forget the day Letha called my home to say that Denny was in Riverside Hospital after his auto accident and I rushed to see him. We stayed in touch for sixty years. He loved his family and friends and was one of the kindest souls I have ever known.

Denny was on my basketball team at LV Jr high in 1958 -1959. he was a quick small guard. We had an undefeated season that year. I had a nice talk with him at a local fast food place about a month ago. We had some good laughs about the old days. I will miss his wisdom.

Denny was one of a kind. So much fun and so caring of his family and others. He constantly kept us smiling. Uncle Walt and Aunt Letha certainly raised a smart, thoughtful and caring young man who brought so much joy to his family and the lives of so many more. RIP cousin. You will be truly missed. I know you are now in a better place and rejoicing in heaven with grandpa and grammy Miller, Uncle Jeffy, daddy (Bob) and so many other loved ones who have also moved on. Much love always. ~Teri~

Our deepest sympathy to the Brookover family. We both had Dennis as a teacher at Frazeysburg Jr. High. He was an excellent teacher and taught "outside" the textbook, which made it interesting and fun. He definitely made a lasting impression on his students .
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Sincerely, Rick & Mary Kay (McNaught) Murray

Denny was the first friend I remember. We grew up together when Toboso still had a post office and a depot. He was a truly genuine person whose essence never changed even though his life did. I will cherish his memory and remember him with love. He made a difference! With deepest sympathies to Walt and Letha, Ashley and Drew, and all the family. May you find peace until you meet again.

I'm in my mid 50's with only a few select memories from school, but I do remember Mr. Brookover being my 7th grade history teacher. He was quite handsome and made my least favorite subject interesting. The terrible car accident years later was a shock to us all and obviously changed his life forever. I am so glad he continued to help others by volunteering for the Salvation Army.
