John C. Reichenbach Jr.

NEW BERN - Mr. John C. Reichenbach Jr., 84, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018, with his wife Jean by his side. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, John attended Shady Side Academy, graduated from Yale in 1955, and served in the US Air Force. He was a career employee of PPG, serving as Director of Marketing, Glass Group; Director of Competitor Intelligence, Glass Group; and finally Corporate Director of Government Affairs, retiring in March 2000 after 42 years. He loved to sing, beginning as an 8 year old soprano in the choir of the church he attended with his parents. He continued singing in the Glee Club while at Yale, and as a bass until 2011 in the Christ Episcopal Church Choir. John also enjoyed his time with his children, coaching for the Township of Upper St. Clair, PA football league for 20 years, serving as troop Scout Master, and hosting annual beach vacations with his grandkids. Following his retirement, he and Jean moved to the Taberna Community to enjoy warmer weather, golfing and boating.
A Celebration of John's life will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Christ Episcopal Church, with The Rev. Paul Canady officiating. Burial will follow in the Historic Burial Grounds. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service in the Parish House. Online condolences may be made at www.pollockbest.com. John is survived by his wife, Jean B. Reichenbach of New Bern, NC; his daughter, Dr. Julie R. Ohlman of Midland, TX; his sons, Eric Reichenbach, and wife Mary, of St. Louis, MO; Charles Reichenbach, and wife Carolyn, of Newtown, PA; and his step-sons, Andrew Konzen and Christopher Konzen of Clermont, FL. He also leaves behind his nine grandchildren, Jack, Katie, Jim, Lewis, Spencer, Will, Ellie, Chip, and Megan.
The family is grateful for the care John received from Homeplace of New Bern and Home Instead Senior Care.
