He is survived by his son Thomas Albert Gianotti of the home. Mr. Gianotti is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years who was before her marriage Mary Elizabeth Williams of Craven County. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Mary Zaccanelli Gianotti and his brothers.
Mr. Gianotti served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He retired to New Bern after a long career as a civilian employee of the U.S. Department of Defense with positions at MCAS Cherry Point and later at the Pentagon. Mr. Gianotti was a Thirty-Three Degree Mason.
Visitation will be at Pollock-Best Funeral Home on Saturday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in New Bern on Monday, September 30, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Richard Seagle officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park. After the services, the family will greet friends at the cemetery.
Flowers are welcome or donations can be made in Mr. Gianotti's memory to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, N.C. or the Shrine Hospitals for Children.
