Devi Koonce Obituary
He was an avid musician, a loving son, brother, husband, dad and grandfather and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Koonce; his parents, Carson and Pauline Koonce of Cove City; his son, Devi Wayne Koonce Jr. of Morehead City; two daughters, Hannah Cooke and husband, Ricky, of Vanceboro and Toni Gail Koonce of Greenville; one brother, Ashley Koonce of Cove City; and four grandchildren, Craig Cooke, Rick Cooke, Alexia Cooke and Rylee Jo Koonce.
His funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at New Bern Church of God with Dr. David Salmons and the Rev. Mike Scott officiating.
Interment will follow immediately in Koonce Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I used to work with Devi many years ago. I always considered him a friend & a very special person. I was shocked to hear of Devi's passing. I just ran into him recently at a friend's memorial service. He was my senior prom date and still as sweet and good looking. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family and friends.

We are so sorry for your loss. I still cannot believe he's gone. Working with him at the post office, we had many laughs and also prayer times. He asked me to pray for Toni Gail a few years ago, he asked for prayer for himself and we would take a minute, right then, and lift it to the Lord. He was a very special person; always ready with a helping hand, a joke, a hug. I will miss him very much, but will see him "THERE" later.

I am so glad I got to talk to Devi at the post office 2 weeks ago. He was joking and laughing as he always did when I went in. I'll always remember when my mom and I would go to Cove and see him loading his mail car when he delivered rural. Mom worked with him and enjoyed every day spent together. He was such a happy and smiling guy. I know that will be missed by all but know that he is looking down on all of us and still smiling. May God bring Healing and Peace to your Hearts. Devi, tell my Granny Ginger hello for us.

I am so sorry for your loss. I grew up in Spring Garden and went to school with both the boys. My brother, Keith, was in Devi's class and I was in Ashley's. My maiden name was Lori Henry. I, too, lost a son in 2010. I know the pain you are feeling. My deepest condolences.
