Charles Burkhardt Obituary
"Chipper" died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at Lake Health West Medical Center in Willoughby.
Born Nov. 29, 1936, in Wickliffe, he was a lifelong resident.
"Chipper" had been a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years, retiring in 1992. He was a school crossing guard for 14 years and always enjoyed seeing the kids.
He was a member of the Wickliffe Italian- American Club, past member of the Wickliffe Baseball League, had bowled in the Wickliffe Home League and the I&A Bowling League. "Chipper" enjoyed playing Bocce and golf and was a Cleveland professional sports fan. He enjoyed most being with his grandchildren and watching their sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Florence P. (Bristo) Burkhardt; son, Charles P. Burkhardt; grandchildren, Matthew and Samantha Conti; sisters, Beverly Hoffman and Marion C. Burkhardt; and special friend his Dachshund, "Mr. S."
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly A. Conti in 2002; parents, Charles A. and Marian G. (Drake) Burkhardt Sr.; and brother-in-law, George Hoffman.
Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at the Orlando-Donsante Funeral Home, 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
