Memories and Condolences
for James Shaw

Not sure what to say?

May 12, 2012

It was a year ago today on a warm Spring day, That we all had to say "Goodbye" when you slowly slipped away. A giant of a man to which no one could compare, Handsome and tall with the kindest eyes anywhere.

No one can deny, you were one of a kind, The most gentle, sweetest man anyone could find. They say time eases grief but this simply is not true, For time for us only brings back sweet memories or you.
Our eyes yearn for that smile that we will no longer see, Our heart breaks for your presence that will no longer be. You gave us values, the kind that money cannot bye, You gave us love and kindness even when we wondered why.
You had a heart as big as the mountains and shoulders broad and Strong, So many times we leaned on you when life had done us wrong.Somehow we knew in God's Great Plan, He's made a special place for such a Great man.
For if anyone deserves God's loving grace, When life is over and he's run his race, It's you James E. Shaw Sr., So loving and so dear, Your long hours of suffering are over down here.
Ours began the day your heart was still, For that special pair of shoes no one else will ever fill. The Greatest fortune anyone has ever had, Is held by all of us 'cause we called you Husband, Gramps, Papa and Dad...

Gone but not forgotten, The Shaw Family

As a retired detective from Eastlake PD, I had the opportunity to work with Jimmy many times on cases that our cities crossed paths on. Jimmy was a class act and very enjoyable to work with. I am so sorry to hear about your loss..

Every daughter wants to be just like her Daddy looking up to him for guidance and protection and through the years the memories of the special Dad you have been have filled my heart...I am so thankful for everything you have taught me. You were my friend and my Hero and I am so proud of the person you were... I could have never asked for a better father. I think of all the things we did together and all the fun and laughter we have had in our lives because of you. When somebody says I remind them of you it is such a very proud moment for me. The things that made you such a wonderful Dad are the qualities in you I most want to carry on. I just want you to know the memories we share will forever be kept in my heart. I love you so much Dad. This is not goodbye...it's till I see you later! Give Terri and Johnny and the rest of the family a hug and kiss from me.

I love you more than words can say...I've always been so proud to have you as my grandpa, I'll always have all of our memories and I know you do too. That one more kiss, one more, one more we used to do. Life isn't going to be the same without you. You were my only grandpa and I was your only granddaughter, I know you'll be watching over all of us, you always have, cause your amazing like that.
-And when I close my eyes I see you no matter where I am, I can smell you through these whispering pines, I'm with your ghost again, It's a shame about the weather but I know soon we'll be together, And I can't wait till then, I can't wait till then.- I'll love you always Gramps...

Hey Grandpa, I don't even know where to begin. I can sit here for hours and write about all the memories that we shared together. From the early times of helping you feed all the Chow Chows and King to you teaching me how to swim. To always making it to my little league games, no matter how busy you were. The list can go on and on but some I wanna keep for just me and you. The one thing I will never forget is the last words you said to me, On Easter, is " I Love You Too " And I will never, ever forget that. And one last thing. You better believe that I am DAMN PROUD to share your name and I just hope that I can carry on the legacy that you and my father have built before me. I love you with all my heart and I will never forget you. Rest In Peace Gramps. I love you

Well Dad I Was Thinking About You Last Night,I Was Wondering How Long It Would Take For You To Fit In The Great Blue Yonder. Well It Didn't Take Long. I Was Watching The Cleveland Indians Game Last Night, We Were Down 4-2 In The Bottom Of The Ninth, And I Said "OK Dad,Lets See What Kind Of Pull You Have with The Big Guy", And What Happens,Indians Win 5-4. I Should Have Known Better, You Had Friends No Matter where You Went. I Will Miss You, You Were My Best Friend, And The Greatest Dad A Son Could Ever Have. God Bless And Rest In Peace Dad, Your Son Jim. P.S. Don't Worry About Mom, We Will Take Good Care Of Her, Like You Did With Each And Everyone of Us.

Well pops i was wondering how you and the big guy would get along in the great blue sky. Well it didn't take long for that answer. I was watching the Indians game Friday night, we were down 4-2 in the bottom of the ninth, and i said "come on Dad,lets see what kind of pull you got up there", and what happens,Indians 'WIN" 5-4. Just goes to show that no matter where you went, you always made a friend or helped them somehow. I will miss you so much, you were my best friend, and the greatest dad a son could ever have. All my love, your son Jim. P.S. don't worry, we will take care of mom, the way you took care of all of us.
