John Walsh Obituary
Born Feb. 20, 1950, in Cleveland, he was a lifelong Chardon area resident.
Mr. Walsh worked as a communications supervisor for Metal Coatings in Chardon from August 1978 to April 2010.
John A. Walsh Jr. married Beckie Allen May 3, 1980, in Chardon.
He was a graduate of Chardon High School, Class of 1968., and The Ohio State University, Class of 1973, with a BA in marketing. John had been a coach and commissioner of the Hambden Baseball League.
He was a longtime cable television sports commentator for Cablevision and G-TV sports programming, especially wrestling and football. John was remembered for his work on the football cablecasts, including the Chardon High School's 1994 State Championship season. John was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State University football.
Survivors are his wife, Beckie Walsh of Chardon; daughter, Leslie Walsh of Chicago, lll.; son, Dr. Kyle Walsh, PhD, of New Haven, Conn.; and mother, Charlotte H. (Solarz) Walsh of Madison.
He was preceded in death by his father, John A. Walsh Sr.; and sister, Charlene Shade.
Private family services were held.
The family would like to thank his friends for their lifetime of love and support.
In lieu of public services, it was John's wish for his friends to spend one night this week watching a Tribe game with their family.
Contributions are suggested to Chardon Baseball League, P.O. Box 634, Chardon, OH 44024.
Arrangements are being handled by The Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

It is with a great deal of heart felt sorrow that we convey our (Owens family) condolences but with so much Joy of having known John "Ox" for so many years. Know that your husband and father was loved and respected by all. While sitting in living room just a few months ago John spoke of his love for his family and the pride in Kyle,Leslle and most of all You Becky for a wonderful family. I met John many years ago. He was a friend of a friend. Even as a teenage, I was impressed with his big heart. My condolences to his family.

OX was a big, gentle man with a heart to match. You could not help but laugh when you were around him. It was a pleasure to know John. My condolences to his family, friends and his 1968 CHS classmates.

Becky, Kyle and Leslie,
I was very saddened to hear about the passing of "Ox"-Dad. As you know Ox and our families go back 55 years or so and what terrific memories I have growing up with him and working together the past 30 plus years. I hope that he was able to enjoy his short retirement time with all of you.

My sincere condolence to the Walsh Family. I have known "OX" for the better part of my life, he was a greatindividual with a big heart.We were in sports together and he was always fun to be around. Ox will be missed by all.
