Nellie Sary Obituary
Born Oct. 7, 1921, in Chagrin Falls, she had been a lifelong area resident.
For 17 years, Mrs. Sary worked as an assembler for the former API Industries in Chester Township.
Nellie Mae Kampf married Donald Edgar Southwick in 1940. He died suddenly, June 27, 1955, leaving her a widow with two small children. She then married Ernest Sary Sept. 13, 1972, and he preceded her in death in October 1994.
Mrs. Sary was always a proper lady. She left school at a very young age to work for wealthy families in Gates Mills, so she was able earn her own money to buy her clothing. Mrs. Sary was a very active member of the Riverview Church and their Senior group and the City Mission. She lived for her family and would do anything for them.
Survivors are her daughter, Donna (Fred) Banfield of Munson Township; son, James (Ruth) Southwick of Brighton, Tenn.; grandchildren, Katherine (Duane) Banfield-Gregg of Newbury Township, Rebecca Banfield-Jackett of Newbury Township, and Elizabeth (David) Southwick Smith of Lenior City, Tenn.; and great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Andrew Smith and Alyssa Jackett.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Edgar Southwick; second husband, Ernest Sary; parents, Ulrich and Mary Anna (nee Kampf) Kampf.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2011, at Briar Hill Church, 8455 Fairmont Road, Russell Township, 440-338-7783. The Rev. David Smith, her grandson-in-law and Rev. Harry Banfield will officiate. A private family burial was held at the Riverview Cemetery in Russell Township.

Arrangements are being handled by Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Chardon.
