Ray Hodgson Obituary


Ray Hodgson, 80, went to be with the Lord on June 6, 2011, in the company of his family.
He was a gauge maker and inspector at TRW for 36 years, retiring in 1986.
He was mechanically gifted, able to fix almost anything. He loved working with his hands and enjoyed antique cars, cars in general and bikes. Many hours were spent roller skating, particularly at the Mentor-on-the-Lake rink. He also enjoyed stock car racing and photography. He also was a member of the Chardon Baptist Church.
A wonderful husband, father, brother, and a good man, he will be dearly missed by his family.
Survivors include his loving wife, Alberta Grace (Haight) Hodgson; son Dale Albert Hodgson; and son-in-law Michael Visti; grandchildren; Katelyn Grace Hodgson, Emily Paige Hodgson, Rachel Joy Visti, Nathan Andrew Visti, and Hannah Grace Visti. He also leaves his sister, Hazel (Kenneth) Weinman of Mentor; sisters-in-law, Joan Ferguson of Barnesville, and Genevieve Haight of Conneaut. He also has several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Willis Hodgson; his daughter, Cynthia Visti; brothers-in-law and sisters-in- law John and Doris Haight, Robert and Velma Haight, Frank Haight, and Newton Ferguson.
The funeral service will be held on 1 p.m. Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville. The Reverend Jim Hayes will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chardon Baptist Church or The Hospice of the Western Reserve.
