Ronald Borries Obituary

Ronald Borries 92, of Bainbridge Oh passed away on January 30 at the Kemper House in Mentor, Ohio.
He was born July 29, 1922 in Kingston Upon Hull, England the son of Henrietta and Charles Borries.
Ron fulfilled his dream of emigrating to America in 1956 and his family joined him a year later. He was one of the founders of the Britains in America Club where he and Joan enjoyed many social events together.
He had a successful career as a mechanical engineer retiring from Eaton Corporation. He was highly regarded as one of their best designers of special assembly machinery.
Prior to retiring he designed a machine to automatically assemble Yale padlocks which was widely accepted by the lock industry.
In the summer months, he loved to be out sailing in his Mirror16 sailboat, which he built himself. In addition to sailing he enjoyed roller skating and was a regular participant in senior skates at the Chagrin Skating Rink. He had custom skates imported from Germany and enjoyed doing the skating dances with the ladies at the rink.
Ron was a motivated volunteer for the Geauga County Meals on Wheels program and enjoyed chatting with the shut ins they served. He was an avid walker and this prompted him to volunteer as a dog walker for the Geauga Humane Society.
The grandchildren were a joy for Ron going on many day trips with grandpa. Staying overnight and hanging out with him in Chagrin Falls gave them lots of fond memories. Later the greatgrandchildren received the same attention from Ron whom they affectionaly called Papa 2. The library in Chagrin Falls was a frequent morning coffee stop over. This gave him the opportunity to hang out with the guys and exchange political views. Sometimes the discussions became heated causing the librarian to warn them to be quiet and tone it down a notch or two. The library staff enjoyed and still remembers the charming English gentleman's amiable presence.
Ron is survived by sons John (Bonnie) Chardon, Phillip (Becky) Mentor and daughter Judi Evans, SLC Utah. Grandchildren Daniel (Kel), Kevin (Kalie),Erin (Mike), Keith, Donna and Hayley. Great grandchildren Mackenzie, Kaylee and Nathaniel.
He was preceded in death by his sister Brenda and his wife Joan.
Ron's family would like to especially thank the staff at The Kemper House in Mentor and Western Reserve Hospice for their skilled loving care and support over these last years.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Dear family, I am so sorry for your loss, death is truly a sting but soon God promises that death will be brought to nothing -

Ron led a happy, fulfilling life. I remember him working on building his sail boat in his garage. I thought that was quite a n accomplishment. He was a great father, friend and mentor. Judy would tell me some really funny stories about him that I enjoyed hearing. May his soul be forever happy.

"Uncle Ron" was one of the nicest men I have known. He spent many Tuesday nights at our house playing snooker with my Dad and many other English friends over the years. I'll miss his gentle ways, although I havent seen him now for quite a few years.
