HUGHES SPRINGS  - Memorial services are pending for James David Heiskell, 93, of Daingerfield. Mr. Heiskell passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011 in Longview.
Mr. Heiskell was born October 5, 1917, in Dallas. His father, John Heiskell, was a prominent real estate developer in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas in the 1920s and 30s. Mr. Heiskell was a World War II veteran, serving in the Marine Corps in the Philippines. After the War, he returned to Dallas and was employed as a building inspector for the City of Dallas for many years. Later he earned his real estate broker's license. He moved to Daingerfield in 1986 and lived there until 2010.
Mr. Heiskell was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lora Heiskell; his younger sister, Eunice Heiskell; his son, James David Heiskell Jr.; and his grandson, Joshua Kyle Huckaby.
He is survived by three daughters; Leanne Read and husband, Kyle, of Austin, Judy Durham and husband, Harold, of Athens and Jeri Boyd and husband, L. W., of Longview; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being made by Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House, 5016 Gilmer Road, Longview, TX 75604.
