Services for Byron Thomas Stewart, 86, of Longview will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Dean Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park. Mr. Stewart died peacefully at his home Wednesday evening.
Born in Leesburg, Texas, May 12, 1922. Byron was the sixth of eight children born to T.A. and Berthel Patterson Stewart. He was educated at Leesburg High School in Camp County and attended Del Mar College and the University of Houston. Byron served with the Army Air Corp during World War II stationed in California and Okinawa. He retired as General Manager of Texas Kenworth of Longview. Byron was an active member of the Alpine Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nelda Milliken Stewart; his sons and daughters-in-law, David Arthur and Barbara Stewart of Pottsboro, Texas, and Mark Thomas and Suzanne Stewart of Austin; his daughter and son-in-law, Nelda Carolyn and James Lawrence of Tulsa; grandchildren, Adrienne McKinney and husband Chris, Daniel Stewart and wife Eileen, Greg Stewart and wife Anna, David Jennings Stewart, Austin Lawrence and wife Katherine, Alec Lawrence and wife Catie, and Eric Alvarez; great-grandchildren, Avery, Kaleb, and Emerson McKinney; along with a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home today, May 8, 2009, at 6-8 p.m.

Nelda,I was so sorry to find out about Byron. You were such precious friends to my parents and especially to Mother after Dad passed away. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Byron will be greatly missed!

Mrs. Stewart, Me and Jose are so sorry for your lost. We thought alot of Mr. Byron. Jose will miss him dearly after seeing him on Wednesday's to do the yard.
