KILGORE - Services for Jason Neil Vickers, 44, of Kilgore, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Riley Pippen and Mr. Ronnie Barton officiating. Burial will follow in the Rusk County Memorial Gardens. Mr. Vickers died Sunday, May 9, 2010, in Overton.
Jason was born in Tyler, Texas to Marshall and Shirley Vickers. Jason was a 1984 graduate of Kilgore High School. He played football, baseball and ran track. Jason was a long-time resident of Kilgore, and worked in the oilfield industry after retiring from Kelly Springfield. Jason loved hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. But he mostly loved spending time with his two children and other loving family and friends.
Anyone who knew him, knew he lived life to the fullest. He was at times a dare-devil, but always was the life of the party. He was someone who would give you the shirt off his back and usually did. Everyone loved him, he will be greatly missed.
Mr. Vickers was survived by his wife,Theresa Vickers; son, Joshua Neil Vickers; daughter, Kasey Ann Vickers; mother of his children, Sherry Ann Vickers; stepchildren, Jennifer and Allan Stanley, and Amy and Scott Warren; grandchildren, Garret Stanley and Jaxon Warner; father, Marshall Neil Vickers; mother, Shirley Thedford; one sister, Lisa Honeycutt Clark; mother-in-law, Linda Porier; father-in-law, Gary and Faye Bardwell; five nieces, Ally Honeycutt, Kristen and Ashly Blassingame, Julia and Jenifer Powell; one nephew, Austin Honeycutt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James Honeycutt, Kevin And Sheila Blassingame, Clay and Lynn Powell and Stephen Clark.
Jason was preceded in death by his stepfather, Melvin Thedford; and grandparents, Pearl and W.A. McDonald and Ed and Ellen Vickers.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore, today, May 11, 2010, between 6-8 p.m.
