Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 15, 2011.
LONGVIEW — Joey Glenn Cobb was born 18 August, 1964, and went home to his Savior Jesus Christ on June 11, 2011. Joey was born in Sinton, Texas, to David and Paula Cobb. He was preceded in death by his father. He leaves to cherish his memories a mother, Paula Cobb Monse; stepfather, Richard Monse; along with many uncles, aunts, cousins; and special friends, Clide Nichols, Mark Richardson and Jody Kemp.
Joey attended school in Ingleside, Texas, and graduated from Ingleside High School in 1982. He was active in his youth group at the First Baptist Church, Ingleside, during his teen years. After graduation, Joey attended Del Mar Technical School and then worked for B.D. Holt Caterpillar as a mechanic for four years.
In April 1987, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for two years. He was stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas, and received training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. His decorations consist of M-16 Rifleman Marksman Badge, Hand Grenade Expert Badge, Army Service Ribbon and Drivers Badge.
Upon being honorably discharged, he moved to Houston, Texas. Upon leaving Houston, Joey moved to Austin, Texas, and worked for Motorola/Freescale until May 2007, when his battle with a brain tumor first surfaced. He lost his eyesight and elected to have surgery to remove the tumor. Joey fought a hard battle, but succumbed to complications from brain surgery.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Veterans Hospital in Temple, Texas, and Texas Home Health Hospice in Longview, Texas.
