EDWIN REIM Obituary

Family and friends will gather at 4:00 pm, Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Community Christian Assembly, 235 W. Washington Ave., Pierson, FL to remember with great fondness the life, loyalty, and generosity of Edwin Carlisle Reim who burst the surly bonds of sickness and frailty on September 9th and now glories in the infinite renewing power of the Light of our Savior. Born April 9, 1932 in Plainfield, New Jersey, Eddie is survived by his high school sweetheart of 58 years, Fay (Demarest). He is predeceased by brother Joe and survived by twin sisters Nancy Rainford and Marion Reim. Eddie has three daughters, Kathy Crosby (Shane), Lora Iler (Earl Jr.), and Robin Friend (John Jr.); grandchildren Michael, Nicole, and Chad Crosby, Evan and Liara Iler, and Allison and Lexi Friend, and great-grandchildren Dylan and Chase Crosby. Eddie attended Jefferson High School in Jefferson, New York and after losing his father at a young age found himself responsible for the family farm. After marrying Fay, Eddie served in the United States Army as an SP3, and drove a bus for the City of Elizabeth, NJ before moving to DeLand. He and Fay owned a 10-unit apartment building in Orange City and he drove for Rinker Materials. Eddie owned Reim's Fernery and also partnered with son-in-law Earl in FSBO Magazine Inc. He was an agent for Shadick Realty and Coldwell Banker where he worked until his recent retirement. Known as Mr. Fixit, Eddie had a way with tools and was always ready to help anyone who needed his considerable talents. He enjoyed music, pinochle, chess, word games and cooking where he honed his skills in the Army mess. Above all, Eddie will be remembered for an abiding integrity which can be attributed to his faith in his Heavenly Father, and manifest itself in his devotion to both family and friends. Remembrances may be made to Florida Hospital Hospice Care, 770 W Granada Ste 304, Ormond Beach, 32174. You are invited to share your memories with the family at www.lankfordfuneralhome.com
