John hired me in 1964 and we became close friends over the years. I crewed with him during the AYC Frostbite races in the late 60's and spent many hours with him during my time with IIT Research. I have always respected his ability to analyze any situation and come up with an innovative solution. It was no surprise when I saw him manage the ECAC contract and then become CEO of IIT Research. He accomplished a goal he had set when I first met him.

John, thank you for all you did to help me over the years. I have been retired for 17 years but am still actively involved in the sailbat racing that you introduced me to in 1965.

My most sincere condolences go out to JoAnn and the rest of John's family; plain words cannot express the pain of his leaving us so suddenly. I "grew up" at IITRI and have known John since the early 70's and we had the opportunity to work together when he moved to Chicago to serve as President of IITRI; my department, HR, reported directly to him. After John retired, we were able to stay in touch with each other and he continued to provide fatherly advice and guidance to me throughout the years. I have learned a lot about life from John. John is a very bright star in my life. He will remain in my memory and prayers forever and I will miss him deeply.

John was my boss at ECAC when I was the manager of the Spectrum Engineering Section from 1968-1976. He was a really bright guy with lots to teach us. We also often sailed together on the Naval Academy's yachts. Best to his family.

So sorry to hear of John's passing. I will always remember debating with him at the condo office, he was a hard person to convince of anything. My condolences to Joann and family
