Mr. Barber was my teacher for ASL 1 and 2 at Daytona State College. I will never forget him! He was an amazing teacher and very kind hearted. I am now a 6th grade teacher and I share stories about my Sign Language Class and even did my best to teach them some beginning ASL. I just heard the news today and my condolences go out to his family and loved ones! He was and always will be my favorite teacher a DSC!

Amy, I was shocked when I learned about Chuck. Wanted to reach out and hug you. He is with the Lord and it gives you a great comfort knowing that. I shall never forget our visit to your cozy place. Mr. Barber, you are loved and missed by all who know you. Forever in our hearts will you be held. You inspired me in ways I never knew and opened my eyes to a whole new world I never understood. Thank you for everything you have ever done for me. Your caring and support has changed my life forever. Amy and Family:
I was deeply saddened to hear of Chuck's passing, and sorry that the news arrived too late to attend the memorial service. Chuck was a dear co-worker on the Board of FRID - The Florida Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf during the early 2000's. He brought humor to each meeting, as well as a unique Deaf-perspective; He was a pleasure to be associated with.
I know that Chuck will be deeply missed. I imagine that he and Sonny Searles are making the afterlife an interesting place to be for awhile.
My thoughts and prayers for the family during this time -- and wonderful memories of a life lived with others in mind.

Chuck - you will be missed! Such a fine man and a true advocate for the rights of the Deaf and a wonderful ASL and interpreting instructor. Will miss your happy laugh and great sense of humor. Will never forget your flaming saddle bags on the way to the FRID board meeting in Orlando - smile!! Glad we saw them and warned you! There are some people you meet in life that really leave an impression; Chuck was one of them. A gentle spirit, always kind & patient. He was my friend, my teacher, my boss. He was a leader in the Deaf community and so respected. It is hard to put words to describe the loss, because he brought so many happy moments to my life. Chuck will always be warmly remembered in my heart. I am glad he is free from suffering. Amy my love and prayers to you and your family. God bless

While the loss of such an amazing friend has brought me great sadness, I know that he in a much better place now and free from pain. Chuck was such a caring boss, mentor and friend. To the one teacher that our Lord put into my life and was my inspiration. I loved being in his class and loved our class teasing him and saying we were "Chuck's Angels". He taught me so much and for that I will be forever grateful. More than ASL, he taught me so many values and life lessons. Chuck was a brother in YHVH the living God. He was quick to be kind. He rescued me when my engine broke down on the side interstate; that's Chuck. His life is now a testimony to others. It is fitting that he passed away during a week set-apart unto God as he is special to God.

Chuck was an outstanding educator. So sad to hear the news of such a wonderful person's passing. I will always hold the wisdom and knowledge obtained by chuck and will carry that with me for the rest of my life. He spread his life experience and his knowledge to so many people in the hearing community and shined light on us to obtain an understanding of the deaf community.

I will never forget Chuck. I met him at a deaf club in 2001. Chuck was a very helper by taking care of my regular wheelchair and scooter when we went on trips sometimes. Thanks, Chuck. My Hubby Todd and I miss him very much. Our condolence to the Barber Family.

I can't thank you enough for the difference you made in my life and my perspective towards the deaf community. You were always supportive towards your classmates and even those who didn't want to listen. you had a way with words. such a strong individual, driven towards helping humanity.
