Clarence Kammerer Obituary

Clarence Wilbur Kammerer, Sr.

Clarence Wilbur Kammerer, Sr., 94, passed away April 12, 2015.

Clarence was born June 28, 1920 in Neodesha, KS to Jennie (Upson) and Joseph Kammerer. He joined the Marine Corps in June 1938 and served for 8 years in the Pacific, including the landing on Okinawa.

Clarence was employed by Procter and Gamble for 39 years until retirement in 1982. After retirement, he worked as a merchandiser for several companies. He was an ordained Deacon and Elder in the Presbyterian Church, also serving on many church committees. He was a kind and caring husband, father, grandfather, and a faithful Christian gentleman. He loved and was loved, by his family and many friends. He was, and always will be, our Superman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rosemary; two sons, C.W. "Kam" (Bill Dill), Asheville, NC; Mumtaz Bill (Richard Messick), Baltimore, MD; four daughters, Leila Ann McKinnon, St. Louis, MO; Rebecca Lawson, Branson, MO; Cindy Covington and Suzy Cotham, Springfield, MO. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Shannon Bappert; Kelly Schlereth; Rachel and Ryan Payne; Amanda Covington; Alex, Olivia, and Josh Cotham; five great-grandchildren, one niece, six nephews, and many friends.

Clarence was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where a Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015. Visitation will be at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 17. Private burial with full military honors will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Crosslines, or a charity of the donor's choice.
