Judith Banks Obituary

Judith (Judy) Ann Gramolini Banks

Judith (Judy) Ann Gramolini Banks died Oct 22, 2015.

Judy was born in 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her family moved to Lawton in 1940 where she attended St. Mary's school for 1st through 12th grades and was crowned "Miss Lawton" her senior year. Judy studied piano, organ, and dance. She played for school events and the Blessed Sacrament church as well as many other events such as weddings, throughout her life. Judy attended the University of Oklahoma and received her BFA degree in drama education in 1965.

In 1958, Judy married her high-school sweetheart, Larry Banks. Together they established their lives in Springfield, MO where Larry was a teacher and later Dean at Missouri State University (Southwest Missouri State College, Southwest Missouri State University). Judy was very active in the university Dames organization.

Judy was a stay-at-home mom involved in many activities such as school functions, PTA, Camp Fire organization and tennis until her children began high school. In 1978, she began working for the Southwest Teacher's Credit Union where she remained for 20 years as the credit union grew to become the Educational Community Credit Union. She retired as president in 1998. She was extremely proud of the organization and her part in helping it grow, continuing to serve on the board after retirement up until her death.

Judy is survived by her children Kathy Robertson (Richard) and Lawrence Banks III (Cynthia); by her grandchildren Lauren Banks, Matty Banks, and Rachel Robertson; by her brother Dr. Gary Gramolini (Victoria); and by many nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Lawrence Banks Jr., mother Onita Fish Gramolini, and father Dr. C.J. Gramolini.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton church, assisted by Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, on December 22, 2015 at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Banks Family Scholarship in care of the Missouri State Foundation (http://www.missouristatefoundation.org), the American Diabetes Association, or any charity of choice.

Kathy and Eddie, Your Mom was a lovely lady and was so kind to me when we moved to Springfield. Larry and Judy meant so much to David and I during our "SMS" days. May you find comfort and peace in all the wonderful memories you hold in your hearts.
