Jerry D. Fulp

Jerry D. Fulp, age 78, of Monett, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 30, 2011 in his home surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born in Aurora, MO on January 24, 1933 to Charles Ted "Johnny" and Juanita (Hilton) Fulp. Jerry graduated from Aurora High School and served in the United States Marine Corps where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.

He married Wenoka Mosier on December 10, 1954. Jerry had a long career with Missouri Gas and Energy and retired as District Manager. Jerry was past President of the Monett Chamber of Commerce. He was appointed Commissioner of the City Council and was later elected Mayor of Monett, serving two terms.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wenoka; two daughters, Kristy Harrell and husband Bob, of Monett and Jami Fulp, of Monett; one grandson, Jared Harrell, of Monett; one brother, Milton "Gene" Fulp, of Springfield, MO; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Kanai officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until service time. Interment and Military Honors will be in Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora, MO. Memorial contributions have been requested to Season's Hospice. Online condolences can be made at www.buchananfuneralhomemonett.com. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.

Jerry Fulp did much for the citizens of Monett during his tenure of Mayor. He was always pleasant to everyone and truly help many people along to way. We need more people like Jerry Fulp. He will be greatly missed
